Dosage and Administration
Always take HEMAMAX TABLETS exactly as your physician has told you.
You should check with your physician or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Dosage
Your physician will determine what dose is appropriate for you.
Treatment of iron-deficiency anemia : 1 – 2 tablets daily in divided doses.
Prophylactic from iron-deficiency anemia: ½ - 1 tablet daily.
Pregnancy and lactation period : 1 tablet daily.
HEMAMAX Tablets can be chewed or swallowed.
Treatment should be continued for a month after return of blood values to normal, to ensure complete compensation of iron stores in the body.
HEMAMAX may cause gastrointestinal irritation if taken on empty stomach and this can be reduced by giving it with or after food or by beginning therapy with a small dose and increasing gradually.
If you take more HEMAMAX than you should:
Call your physician or go to the nearest hospital emergency unit immediately.
Iron Overdosage Symptoms : Diarrhea, bloating and abdominal pain.
Iron Overdosage Treatment: In treating acute iron poisoning, speed is essential to reduce absorption of iron from the gastrointestinal tract. Activated charcoal is ineffective, gastric lavage should be used in suspected cases ingested 60 mg/kg or more of elemental iron within 1 hour of presentation. Serum-iron concentrations may be an aid to estimating the severity of poisoning.
If you forget to take HEMAMAX :
If you forget to take a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember it.
However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
If you stop taking HEMAMAX:
Do not stop taking HEMAMAX unless your physician tells you.
