Active ingredient: Aciclovir
Indications
DEFORAX cream contains aciclovir which used in treatment of different types of viral diseases like:
Herpes simplex virus–1 (HSV-1) which causes herpes labialis (cold sores).
Aciclovir works by stopping viral replication.
Dosage and Administration
Always take DEFORAX cream exactly as your physician has told you.
You should check with your physician or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Dosage
Your physician will determine what dose is appropriate for you.
DEFORAX Cream should be applied 5 times daily for at least 4 days and may be continued for up to 10 days if healing has not occurred.
DEFORAX Cream should be applied to the lesions or impending lesions without unnecessary rubbing or touching at earliest stages of infection and can be used also during later stages. Hands should be clean before and after applying the cream to avoid aggravating or transferring the infection.
If you take more DEFORAX than you should
Call your physician or go to the nearest hospital emergency unit immediately.
Overdosage: application of 2gm DEFORAX cream topically is not expected to show undesirable effects.
If you forget to take DEFORAX
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose.
Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
If you stop taking DEFORAX CREAM
Do not stop taking DEFORAX unless your physician tells you to stop.
