GABIN Capsules


GABIN capsules contain 400, 300 or 100 mg gabapentin.
The other ingredients are: Maize starch, talc, colloidal silicone dioxide and magnesium Stearate.
The capsule shell of 400 mg contains the following: E133, E110, E171 and D&C red No. 22.
The capsule shell of 300 mg contains the following : E104, E110 and E171.
The capsule shell of 100 mg contains the following: E171.


• GABIN capsules contain gabapentin which is structurally related to the neurotransmitter (gamma-aminobutyric acid).
GABIN used in treatment of epilepsy and to relieve peripheral neuropathic pain.
• Epilepsy treatment: gabapentin can be used to treat several types of epilepsy in adults and children over 6 year's old.
Gabapentin can be prescribed if the current treatment is no longer fully controlling the epilepsy. 
It can be co administrated with the current treatment or alone.
• To relieve peripheral neuropathic pain:
Many diseases (like shingles and diabetes) can cause damaging and long lasting pain to the nerves of legs and arms.
These pains may cause numbness, cramping, burning, throbbing and tingling. Gabapentin is used to treat these long lasting pains

Dosage and Administration

Always take GABIN exactly as your physician has told you. 
You should check with your physician or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Your physician will determine what dose is appropriate for you.
1-Treatment of the epilepsy:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years old
• The initial dose: 300-900mg daily.
• Doses lower than 600 mg daily shall be adapted by physician and pharmacist.
• The dose may be increased progressively up to a maximum of 3600 mg daily in 3 divided doses.
Children over 6 years old:
• Doses are calculated according to body weight.
• The treatment is started with a low initial dose gradually increased through a period of 3 days.
• The usual dose: 25-35 mg/kg/day in three divided doses.
Gabapentin is not recommended for use in children under 6 years old.
2-To relieve neuropathic pain:
Your physician will usually build up your dose gradually.
• The initial dose: 300-900mg daily.
• Doses lower than 600 mg daily shall be adapted by physician and pharmacist.
• The dose may be increased progressively up to a maximum of 3600 mg daily in 3 divided doses. 
Withdrawal of GABIN therapy or transition to or from another type of antiepileptic therapy should be made gradually to avoid precipitating an increase in the frequency of seizures. Particular groups of patients like elderly patient or those with renal failure, physician may prescribe different doses.
Always swallow the whole capsules with plenty of water.
Duration of treatment:
Continue taking GABIN until your physician tells you to stop. 
You should not stop taking this medicine without medical advice.
If you take more GABIN than you should: 
Call your physician or go to the nearest hospital emergency unit immediately. 
If you forget to take GABIN:
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, however, if it is within two hours of the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
If you stop taking GABIN:
Do not stop taking GABIN unless your physician tells you to. 
If GABIN dose is reduced, discontinued or substituted with an alternative medication, this should be done gradually over a minimum of 1 week to minimize the risk of seizures.
Sudden stopping of GABIN may cause anxiety, insomnia, nausea, pain, sweating, irregular blood glucose level in diabetic patients which may be due to problems with the hepatic function. Additionally in clinical studies in children, aggressiveness and jerky movements were reported. If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your physician or pharmacist.
