Each 5 ml contain: 160 mg Paracetamol
DEFADOL is used to relieve different types of mild to moderate pain such as headache, migraine, backache, rheumatic aches, toothache, pain following dental procedures and teething pain. It also relieves fever and discomfort that accompanies cold, flu and sore throat. DEFADOL is also used to reduce fever that may occur after vaccination.
Dosage and Administration
HOW TO TAKE DEFADOL
Always take DEFADOL syrup exactly as your physician has told you.
You should check with your physician or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Your physician will determine what dose is appropriate for you.
• Children: 2 – 6 years: 5 to 10 ml 3 times daily.
• Children: 6 – 12 years: 10 to 20 ml 3 times daily.
If you take more DEFADOL than you should:
Call your physician or go to the nearest hospital emergency unit immediately.
1- In massive overdosage exceeding 10 gm of paracetamol may cause liver damage.
Early symptoms may include pallor, nausea, vomiting, diaphoresis and general malaise.
2- Clinical and laboratory evidence of liver damage may not be apparent until 48 to 72 hours past ingestion. Overdose should be promptly treated by gastric lavage followed by intravenous (N-acetylcysteine) or (methionine) without waiting of the result of plasma paracetamol levels.
3- Additional antidote therapy is normally considered in light of further plasma paracetamol levels and the time elapsed since ingestion. In all cases of suspected overdose, prompt medical attention is critical for adults as well for children , even if you don’t noticed any signs or symptoms.
If you forget to take DEFADOL:
if you forget to take a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember it.
However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
If you stop taking DEFADOL SYRUP:
Do not stop taking DEFADOL unless your physician tells you to. If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your physician or pharmacist.
